Governor Schwarzenegger and Environment Minister Barry Penner at Governors' Global Climate Summit

Environment Minister Barry Penner joined more than eight U.S. states and representatives from 11 countries at Governor Schwarzenegger's Global Climate Summit in Los Angeles, California. The Summit featured a video-taped address from President-Elect Barack Obama and the signing of a joint declaration agreeing to pursue collaborative action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create opportunities to grow green economies.

ICE Fund Backs Unique Biomass Technology

VICTORIA – With support from the provincial government’s Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) Fund, Nexterra Energy Corp. is implementing an alternative energy system that will cut operating costs for a Lower Mainland industry and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 22,000 tonnes per year, Technology, Trade and Economic Development Minister Ida Chong said today.
